Founded from a Deeply Personal Awakening
Chhaya Foundation Trust is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and lifelong care of homeless, injured, abandoned, and abused Indian dogs and cows. Founded from a deeply personal experience of witnessing the pain and helplessness of an animal after a tragic road accident, the organisation was created with one clear purpose: to give voiceless animals safety, treatment, dignity, and a chance to live without suffering.
From 2017 to 2021, the founder worked independently on the streets, rescuing animals and arranging emergency treatment, food, and protection with limited resources. In 2022, Chhaya Foundation Trust was established on personal land to create a permanent shelter for animals who could no longer survive on the streets.
Today, the shelter provides care to nearly 100 animals and has helped rescue approximately 1,000 dogs and cows. The Trust also supports humane population control, completing 250 sterilizations in the past two years. Through rescue, medical care, shelter, sterilization, adoption awareness, and community education, Chhaya Foundation Trust works to build a more compassionate and responsible world for animals.
