Assess & Ensure Safety
Park safely away from oncoming traffic. Injured animals bite from agonizing pain and terror—approach with calm, low posture.

Keep Animal Warm & Still
Cover the animal with a blanket or jacket to combat shock. Do NOT force-feed water or attempt to bend fractured limbs.
Trauma Surgery, Maggot Treatment & Wheelchair Mobility
Many animals brought to Chhaya Foundation have sustained catastrophic spinal trauma, shattered hips, or deep necrotic maggot wounds from highway accidents. Where others recommend euthanasia, our veterinarian team fights relentlessly for their recovery.
Dogs with irreversible spinal injuries receive custom 2-wheel wheelchairs and hydrotherapy so they can run freely.
Deep maggot infections are extracted under sedation, followed by tissue regeneration therapies.
Animals who cannot safely be released back to the street live permanently at our Panipat sanctuary.
